The Turkish fishing vessel DURU 67 was attacked near the temporarily occupied Sevastopol. As a result of the incident, one crew member was killed, several other sailors were injured and hospitalized.
This was reported by the Turkish edition of NTV.
According to the Turkish Coast Guard, the DURU 67 was attacked and sank. There is currently no official information on who is behind the attack.
After the incident, the crew was assisted by another Turkish fishing vessel, the BURAK KAYA, which was nearby. The sailors quickly evacuated the five victims and headed for the port of Inebolu.
During the transportation, one of the fishermen, who was in critical condition, died of his injuries. The body of the deceased, along with the wounded, was handed over to the Turkish Coast Guard upon arrival at the shore.
According to Fevzi Yavuzilmaz, head of the Kastamonu provincial health department, four crew members were injured with varying degrees of severity. Doctors found that the injuries were caused by debris.
One of the victims required surgery to install a drainage tube in his chest. Two of the fishermen escaped with minor injuries, while the condition of two others is assessed as more serious. All the victims were provided with emergency aid and further treatment was organized in medical institutions.
The rescue operation involved 18 medical workers and specialists from the Turkish National Medical Rescue Team. After the evacuation was completed, the BURAK KAYA returned to the port of Inebolu.
Also on the night of May 29, the enemy attacked the ANT bulk carrier, which was flying the Vanuatu flag and was sailing from one of the ports of Odesa region to Turkey with cargo on board. A hit to the ship's superstructure caused a fire, which was quickly localized, but two crew members were injured.
