The government of the United Arab Emirates has donated 1,500 laptops for schoolchildren from twenty communities and boarding schools in Kherson Oblast.

According to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Education Administration, these gadgets are really needed now, as most schools in the region work remotely due to constant Russian shelling.

"In such conditions, 56 thousand students of the region study," the official added.

According to him, the laptops were given to children of the military who are defending our country, as well as children from vulnerable categories.

"I am sure that they will become an aid in learning and help to unleash the potential and talents of Kherson students," Prokudin said.

Earlier, the Lesya Ukrainka Central Library in Kherson received 8 tablets, a laptop, a video camera, headphones, a speaker with technical support to connect to the server and use the materials in the server database as part of the Ideas CUBE mobile library program. Ideas CUBE is an innovative non-formal learning tool for children and youth that has downloaded literature to help children and youth learn and develop.

The Executive Committee of Kherson City Council will also purchase a premium laptop for video editing at the expense of the budget. They decided not to hold a tender, concluding a deal worth more than 53 thousand without using an electronic system. For comparison, on popular Ukrainian websites, prices for laptops suitable for video editing start at 20 thousand hryvnias and can reach 90 thousand, depending on the technical parameters.
