In the Odesa region, the director of a construction company reimbursed the state budget more than 10 million hryvnias in unpaid value-added tax. Following this, the prosecutor’s office filed a motion with the court requesting that he be exempted from criminal liability.

According to the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation revealed that between 2023 and 2024, the company’s director entered into contracts for major repairs, construction, and the supply of goods totaling nearly 64 million hryvnias.

Law enforcement officials determined that he failed to report the funds received in his tax and financial reports, thereby underreporting his tax liabilities.

As a result, the state budget lost more than 10 million hryvnias in VAT revenue.

Prosecutors from the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office notified the company’s director that he was suspected of intentional tax evasion on an especially large scale under Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

After the violation was uncovered, the director fully compensated the state for the losses incurred and paid the financial penalties prescribed by law.

In light of this, prosecutors filed a motion with the court to exempt the man from criminal liability in accordance with the law.

The pretrial investigation in the criminal proceedings was conducted by the Territorial Directorate of the State Bureau of Investigations in the Odesa region.

Earlier, prosecutors from the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office notified the company’s director that he was suspected of intentionally evading taxes totaling more than 6.6 million hryvnias.

Additionally, the Economic Security Bureau compelleda businessman who provides international transportation services to reimburse the state budget for nearly 10 million hryvnias in unpaid taxes.
