The Economic Security Bureau compelled an entrepreneur providing international transportation services to reimburse nearly 10 million hryvnias in unpaid taxes to the state budget.

According to the EBS press service, the entrepreneur has already reimbursed the full amount to the budget and admitted his guilt during the pre-trial investigation.

Detectives from the EBS Regional Office in the Odesa region established that the entrepreneur, who operated international passenger transport services between Odesa and cities in Romania, earned over 71 million hryvnias in income from business activities between 2022 and 2024. To provide these services, he used his own fleet of buses and held the appropriate license for international passenger transportation. He transported over 55,000 passengers, but failed to report a significant portion of his income in his tax returns.

In particular, while operating under the simplified tax system, he declared only 10.4 million hryvnias in income instead of the over 28 million he actually received, resulting in the non-payment of over 354,000 hryvnias in single tax.

After the 2% preferential rate was abolished, the entrepreneur continued to conceal his actual income. For example, for August–September 2023, he declared only 1.8 million hryvnias while his actual income was nearly 9.8 million. As a result, the budget lost nearly 593,000 hryvnias in taxes.

Furthermore, after exceeding the income threshold for the simplified tax system, the entrepreneur was required to switch to the general tax system and pay taxes in full. However, according to the investigation, he failed to declare over 45 million hryvnias in income received during the year from international transportation, resulting in the non-payment of nearly 8.9 million hryvnias in personal income tax and military levy.

The man was exempted from criminal liability because he reimbursed the state for the losses.
