New tariffs for meals in schools and kindergartens have been set in Odesa. Privileged categories of children will continue to receive free meals.

The decision was made at a meeting of the executive committee of the Odesa City Council.

The Executive Committee of the Odesa City Council has submitted new tariffs for meals in schools and kindergartens to the military administration. As stated in the draft decision, this will be the first significant adjustment of tariffs after April 2025.

According to the document, the updated norms will be established on November 1, 2025. They should provide better and more balanced nutrition for children in municipal educational institutions, in accordance with new state requirements and resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 305 of March 24, 2021 and No. 816 of July 7, 2025.

The draft law stipulates that the daily cost of meals for children in kindergartens will be

Parents will pay part of this amount - UAH 64.78 and UAH 82.06, respectively, and the rest will be covered by the city budget. Children from large families will receive a partial reimbursement, and privileged groups (including children with disabilities, orphans, IDPs, children of combatants, and children of fallen defenders) will eat free of charge.

In schools, the price of breakfast or lunch for students in grades 1-4 will be 75 hryvnias, and for high school students - 86.5 hryvnias. The cost of a gluten-free or lactose-free menu for children with medical conditions will remain at UAH 125.

The draft law also clarifies the standards for specialized institutions, such as the Perlynka orphanage, the Olympic lyceum, and the special school No. 75. For children in these institutions, the daily cost of meals will range from UAH 151 to UAH 326, depending on age and type of institution.

Recently, Odesa denied the information about a region-wide quarantine in schools. The temporary transition of some educational institutions to distance learning is explained only by the increase in the incidence of SARS and is called a preventive measure.
