Izmail's port and energy sector were under attack at night

Energy, industrial and port infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of a night attack by Russians in the south of Odesa region.

This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.

"The territories of enterprises and some equipment were damaged. Fires broke out on the ground and were quickly extinguished by rescuers. There were no fatalities or injuries. However, the attack has caused power outages in some localities. Critical infrastructure has been switched to backup power.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Izmail, Andriy Abramchenko, clarified that it was this city.

"At night, the Russian aggressor once again subjected our city to a massive UAV attack, which resulted in damage to infrastructure facilities and residential buildings. After the shelling ended, all services began to provide first aid and eliminate the consequences of the enemy UAV attack. Currently, working groups are documenting the consequences of the shelling and the extent of damage," said the mayor.

According to the South Air Command, on the night of March 17, starting at 18:00 on March 16, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 178 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmass and other types of attack drones.

According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 a.m. on March 17, air defense defenses neutralized 154 enemy UAVs. There were hits of 22 attack UAVs at 12 locations, as well as the fall of downed UAVs (wreckage) at two locations.

On the evening of March 12, the Russian army once again attacked the port infrastructure of Odesa region with attack drones. There were no casualties as a result of the attack. However, the drones damaged a food warehouse on the port's territory by piercing its roof. A fire broke out and was extinguished by rescuers.
