As Intent previously reported, residents of Oleshky who fled to Russia were sent to the Kuban region. They were housed in one of the health resorts in the Krasnodar Krai. According to Russian authorities, the evacuees were met by volunteers who helped them complete paperwork, move their belongings, and settle in.

On October 30, a Ukrainian delegation led by Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada’s Commissioner for Human Rights, arrived in the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. People who wanted to leave the town for territory controlled by Ukraine were given that opportunity.

On the same day, two convoys departed from Oleshky: one headed for Ukraine, the other for Russia.

According to Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets, the humanitarian mission in Oleshky has now been successfully completed. He noted that the people who arrived in Ukraine are very tired after the difficult journey, but at the same time happy. The Ombudsman said that the evacuees are sharing their experiences, discussing their plans, and talking about what they need right now.

The operation was carried out in accordance with agreements reached with Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova, with the assistance and coordination of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump. These agreements provide for a temporary ceasefire in designated areas of Oleshky to allow for the delivery of humanitarian aid and the preparation of a safe evacuation of the civilian population.

The ceasefire in the designated areas took effect at 3:00 a.m. on October 27, Kyiv time. According to the agreement, it is to last until the evening of November 1.
