The new Artis One angiography system was used during the procedures.

This was announced by Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration.

Doctors closed a patent foramen ovale in 16-year-old Artem using an occluder and performed a minimally invasive closure of the defect in 5-year-old Gleb using a special coil. The children are currently in stable condition.

The surgeries were performed by cardiac surgeons Volodymyr Buzovskyi and Oleksandr Hotsulyak, with the assistance of anesthesiologist Oleksandr Popsuyko.

Endovascular procedures are modern, minimally invasive interventions on blood vessels that are performed without incisions, but through small punctures (2–3 mm) under X-ray guidance. This significantly reduces risks, eliminates the need for general anesthesia, and greatly shortens the recovery period.

Previously, Mykolaiv City Hospital opened a department of endovascular neurosurgery dedicated to treating vascular pathologies of the brain and other emergency conditions. The project was funded by the city budget.

Six million hryvnias wereallocated for renovating thepremises to accommodate a larger number of patients. A washing machine was purchased for 16 million hryvnias. The department also acquired a mobile angiograph, a plasma coagulator, and a sterilizer.
