Instead of going on daily duty during the hottest month of the war, a rescue dispatcher from Mykolaiv region resigned and fled abroad. The sergeant chose to stay safe in evacuation and was sentenced.

This was reported by the press service of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv.

The court considered a case against a 33-year-old local resident who, in March 2022, worked as a dispatcher at one of the units of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region and had a special rank of junior sergeant of the civil protection service.

The woman was accused of evading civilian protection service during a special period.

During the trial, it was established that the accused was supposed to report for daily duty, but did not arrive at the territory of the detachment. At the same time, she did not submit a report on the reasons for her absence.

According to the case file, the woman informed her superiors by phone that she did not want to continue her service, after which she left the territory of Ukraine and went abroad. The events took place in March 2022, when the country was already in a special period due to a full-scale war.

In the course of the proceedings, a plea agreement was concluded between the accused, her defense counsel and the prosecutor. The woman fully admitted her guilt and agreed to the circumstances set out in the indictment.

The court reviewed the terms of the agreement and concluded that it was made voluntarily and complied with the requirements of the applicable law. As a result, the court approved the agreement, found the woman guilty and sentenced her to a fine of UAH 34,000 agreed by the parties.

In May, a court in Mykolaiv sent a Moldovan citizen to custody. He is suspected of a scheme to produce fake Romanian documents to evade mobilization.
