Shelling in Mykolaiv region caused power outages and train delays

As a result of Russian shelling, some railroad sections in Mykolaiv and Kirovohrad regions were de-energized.

This was reported by the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.

This led to temporary changes in the train schedule in these areas. Currently, power engineers and railroad workers are working to restore power supply to normalize traffic as soon as possible.

The situation may also affect the movement of trains No. 51/52 (Zaporizhzhia - Odesa) and No. 148/147 (Kyiv - Odesa), which will soon run on this route.

Ukrzaliznytsia has already dispatched backup locomotives to the de-energized sections to ensure further traffic. The railroad is waiting for the shelling to end to assess the extent of the damage and start restoration work. Ukrzaliznytsia assured that all passengers will be delivered to their destinations.

On the morning of May 16, Russian troops again shelled Kherson's railroad infrastructure. At the time of the attack, there were passengers and employees at the station, but they all managed to get down to the shelter, so no one was injured. The shelling damaged the building of the railway station, smashing windows and destroying some of the workplaces in the office premises. One of the cars of a passenger train also sustained minor damage.

The press service emphasized that despite the shelling, the train continued its route with a delay of about an hour after the danger was over. Other trains are also running according to schedule.

In the first year of the full-scale war, Ukrzaliznytsia impressed not only Ukrainians but also foreign partners and even the enemy. Despite constant shelling, mass evacuations, and hostilities, trains continued to run, which did not go unnoticed by the European media. Thus began the most unpredictable and difficult year in the country's history for Ukrainian railroaders - a year when railroad companies from around the world expressed their respect for Ukrzaliznytsia's work in the midst of military chaos.
