In Mykolaiv, SBU officers are conducting investigative actions in the framework of criminal proceedings on drug trafficking and robbery. According to preliminary data, police officers are among the persons being checked for involvement in possible offenses.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv region.

According to law enforcement, the criminal proceedings are being investigated on the grounds of offenses under Articles 307 and 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. These include drug trafficking and robbery.

The police confirmed that the persons being checked as part of the investigation include employees of the agency. At the same time, they emphasized that investigative actions are currently underway, and all procedural measures are being taken in cooperation between law enforcement agencies and with the assistance of the leadership of the regional police department.

The National Police noted that they take a principled position to prevent any illegal actions among law enforcement officers. If the involvement of police officers in possible crimes is confirmed, they will be held accountable in accordance with the law.

Investigators are currently establishing all the circumstances of the case. The police called on the public and media to refrain from making premature conclusions until the official results of the investigation are made public.

Earlier, law enforcement agencies in Ukraine, Poland and Moldova conducted an anti-drug operation codenamedRubicon. The investigation uncovered a transnational criminal organization that had established a full cycle of drug trafficking: from smuggling precursors from the EU to operating 34 clandestine laboratories in 21 regions of Ukraine.

The operation also targeted Mykolaiv region, where law enforcement officers detained a 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman. The couple specialized in selling amphetamine, mephedrone and Alfa-PVP, disguising the illegal substances in parcels with clothes under fake names. In addition to street drug trafficking, an investigation was completed in the region against an inspector of the Kazankivska correctional colony No. 93, who set up a channel for supplying drugs directly to prisoners. The court has already imposed a pre-trial restraint on the suspects in the form of no alternative detention.
