Salaries in the Kherson region have risen, while the number of employees at companies has decreased

Despite the war and the occupation of part of the region, businesses in the Kherson region continue to operate and provide jobs. New statistics show not only an increase in the average salary but also a decrease in the number of full-time employees in the region.

The State Statistics Service has released data on wages and employment of full-time employees in the Kherson region for 2024.

According to statisticians, the average monthly wage for full-time employees in the region was 14,821 hryvnias in the first quarter and rose to 16,683 hryvnias in the second quarter. Thus, over three months, the average wage increased by 1,862 hryvnias, or nearly 13%.

Among the districts for which data was published, the highest wages were recorded in the Kherson District. There, the average wage was 16,489 hryvnias in the first quarter and 18,178 hryvnias in the second.

In the Beryslav District, wages were lower: 11,291 hryvnias in the first quarter and 13,979 hryvnias in the second. For the Henichesk, Kakhovka, and Skadovsk districts, the figures were not published due to confidentiality requirements for statistical information.

Along with the increase in wages, statistics showed a decrease in the average number of full-time employees. While there were 18,068 full-time employees in the region in the first quarter, that number fell to 17,253 in the second.

The largest number of employees was concentrated in the Kherson district—13,990 people in the first quarter and 13,442 in the second. In the Beryslav district, this figure rose from 1,811 to 1,864 people.

Data on actualhours worked were also released. On average, a full-time employee in the Kherson region worked 377 hours in the first quarter and 378 hours in the second.

In the Beryslav District, this figure increased from 395 to 419 hours, and in the Kherson District—from 404 to 407 hours.

The Main Department of Statistics noted that the information was compiled based on the results of a state statistical survey covering legal entities and their separate divisions with 10 or more employees. 

Furthermore, the issue of unpaid wages in the Kherson region remains unresolved, despite the considerable time that has passed since they were accrued. Statistics show that the vast majority of these debts accumulated in previous years, with certain districts of the region being the hardest hit.
