Resident of Teplodar sentenced to suspended sentence for attempt to set fire to office of NGO

The Teplodar court approved a plea agreement between the prosecutor and a local resident on the attempted arson of the NGO "Modern View".

The woman was accused of attempting to set fire to the front door of the NGO's building on August 20, 2025, the Opendatabot platform reported, citing the court's verdict.

She received an incendiary mixture and paper from another person, after which she poured solvent on the door and set fire to the paper, but the fire did not spread due to the intervention of a volunteer of the NGO. On September 25, 2025, the prosecutor of the Bilyaevsky District Prosecutor's Office and the accused concluded a plea agreement under which she was sentenced to five years in prison with a probationary period of two years. The court recovered UAH 17.8 thousand from the accused in favor of the state for the examination. On November 18, 2025, the Teplodar City Court of Odesa Region approved the agreement.

In October 2025, a man who tried to commit sabotage on the railroad was convicted in Odesa. The court sentenced him to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Prior to that, the SBU counterintelligence, together with the National Police, detained eight people in Odesa who were suspected of sabotage on the railroad. According to the investigation, they set fire to relay cabinets, damaged signal systems, and one of the suspects even tried to blow up a railroad track.

Among the detainees are two brothers from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, young men from Podilsk, a pensioner from Izmail, and residents of Berezivskyi and Odesa districts. The youngest participant is only 15 years old.

In July, five members of the organized group committed 14 arson attacks in Odesa region. The sabotage was carried out against the facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia, the power industry, administrative buildings of government agencies and strategically important enterprises.

For several months, they organized arson attacks on relay and battery cabinets on railway lines, transformer substations, administrative buildings of village councils and government agencies, cell towers, and water supply facilities. The arsons were carried out at night. Flammable substances were used.
