Saboteurs to be tried for arson in Odesa region

(news.blog.net.ua)

Five members of the organized group committed 14 arson attacks in Odesa region. The sabotage was carried out against the facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia, the electric power industry, administrative buildings of government agencies and strategically important enterprises.

This was reported on the website of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

They were motivated to do so by a monetary reward paid by Russian special services.

The group operated in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district.

For several months, they organized arson attacks on relay and battery cabinets on railway lines, transformer substations, administrative buildings of village councils and government agencies, cell phone towers, and water supply facilities.

The arsons were carried out at night. Flammable substances were used. Special tools were used to open technical cabinets and pre-prepared vehicles that allowed them to move quickly between sites.

The payment for the crimes came from the FSB to an electronic wallet in the GlobalMoney mobile application, after which the money was divided among the group members.

The detained men are between 21 and 34 years old. They were detained in late January 2025 and are currently in custody. They also live in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district.

The detainees are charged with committing sabotage, intentional damage to other people's property, electricity and telecommunications facilities.

Izmail also recently got rid of symbols of the Russian occupation. Unknown benefactors carefully removed a plaque glorifying the Russian invaders of the past.

The Verkhovna Rada adopted two resolutions on renaming settlements whose names contain symbols of Russian imperial policy or do not meet the standards of the state language.

Activists of the NGO Decolonization.Ukraine have once again updated their map with the number of streets that they believe should be renamed, reducing their number in Odesa region from 194 to 179.
