The exhibition "Weapons and Other Things. Research" by artist Vadym Luhovtsov, is taking place on Devolanivskyi Descent under the Kotsebu Bridge in the Garage Gallery in the center of Odesa.

An Int'l correspondent visited it.

Yeltsin inventing Russia in 1991, Putin being shot in the temple by someone, or maybe by himself, urging him to join Kobzon (a Soviet and Russian singer who died in 2018 - ed.), a call to watch at least porn, if only not Russian television, Carlson blowing up the Kremlin - in total, 13 works by the artist are on display.

According to Vadym Luhovtsov, this is his second solo exhibition, and he doubted whether it was worth holding it.

"I had an anniversary this year, but I didn't celebrate it. So I finally decided to celebrate it in this way. In general, the idea to hold exhibitions came about by accident. I have been doing street art for three years now," the artist said.

The artist said that he did not plan to do street art at all, but three years ago, after the full-scale invasion, he painted a portrait of Boris Johnson in Odesa at the 16th station of the Big Fountain, and in a few days the photo of this picture spread not only in Ukraine but also in Russia.

"I looked at how it was being shared on Russian resources and was surprised that it worked like that. Then I realized that I had a tool of influence. There is a traditional war and an information war, so I entered the information war in this way," he said.

The portrait of Boris Johnson lasted the longest, it is still there, but someone covered the former British Prime Minister's eyes, and the "rebranding" of Coca-Cola lasted the least. The painting with the inscription "ass-ass" was taken down the day after Vadym Luhovtsov hung it on the street.

In general, not everyone likes street art, and the artist was once fined for trying to restore a portrait of Dzhokhar Dudayev, and he has his own stalker who paints over his work with black paint, for example, on Dacha Kovalevsky Street, where the place where the artist painted Carlson blowing up the Kremlin, it was painted over four days later, along with his own painting of a TV set calling for porn, not Russian TV either, and the others were not touched. The artist is sure that the person who painted over the paintings follows him on Instagram.
