Former minister Dmytro Tabachnyk, who contributed to the occupation of the Kherson region, has been deprived of all state awards.

This is evidenced by the Decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The President of Ukraine has signed a decree that puts into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to deprive persons who have committed high treason or support Russian aggression of state awards.

One of these individuals is Dmytro Tabachnyk, former Minister of Education and Science, who coordinated the activities of the occupation administration in the Kherson region. The decree provides for the permanent deprivation of Tabachnyk of all state awards and honors of Ukraine.

Earlier, the SBU reported that in March 2022, Tabachnyk, along with his accomplices, created the structure of the occupation administration of the Kherson region, which was transferred to the leadership of Volodymyr Saldo.

He also developed new "educational standards" for teachers from Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions who agreed to cooperate with the occupiers. The former minister is accused of treason, aiding the aggressor, and violating international humanitarian law.

On November 20, members of the Verkhovna Rada passed a law depriving traitors and collaborators of state awards. From now on, people who contributed to Russian aggression will no longer be awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. Currently, state awards can only be deprived of their holders if they are convicted of a serious crime, as provided for by the current legislation.

In February 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy deprived several people with Russian citizenship of Ukrainian citizenship. According to the President, the next step will be to impose sanctions on them, seize and confiscate all their property, corporate rights and other assets in favor of the state. Among them was Dmytro Tabachnyk, former Minister of Education and Science.

In September, the High Anti-Corruption Court granted permission to investigate former MP Oleksandr Hranovskyi in the case of organizing a corruption scheme worth more than UAH 90 million. The case concerns the Odesa Port Plant.
