In Odesa, a security police officer is suspected of attempting to organize the illegal departure of a citizen from Ukraine. The suspect was detained after handing over the first part of the bribe.

This is evidenced by the decision of the Peresypskyi District Court of Odesa.

According to the investigation, an officer of the Odesa Oblast Security Police Department, using his official position, offered a citizen to organize an illegal departure from Ukraine outside of checkpoints during martial law.

The story began in early August 2025, when the citizen turned to an acquaintance for advice on leaving the country legally. He recommended contacting a police officer who allegedly knew "the legal mechanisms for resolving the issue." During the meeting in Odesa, the policeman said that there were no legal ways to leave the country, but that he could organize the transportation for money - 18 thousand US dollars. He kept part of the amount for himself, and transferred the rest to other participants in the scheme.

In September, the citizen agreed to the terms, but agreed to transfer the money in installments: USD 10 thousand on the eve of the transfer and USD 8 thousand on the day of departure. Later, the suspect maintained contact via messengers, clarified the details of the transportation organization and assured that he had previously helped citizens cross the border outside checkpoints.

During one of the meetings, the citizen handed over the first part of the money to the police officer - 10 thousand dollars (approximately 416 thousand hryvnias). On the same day, law enforcement officers detained the policeman and his accomplice in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. On October 15, the suspect was officially served a notice of suspicion.

During the search, the police seized from the suspect

The court seized the phones and cash, prohibiting the use or disposal of the property. The gun was returned to the suspect's defense lawyer.

Also in Odesa region, three officials are suspected of creating a scheme to receive bribes for making changes to military documents. These are the head of the documentary support group, the controller of the technical condition of vehicles in the National Police, and an inspector of the patrol police in Izmail. In 2023, they decided to team up to organize an illegal business: they were looking for men who were wanted for failing to update their military records in a timely manner and offered them services to remove them from the wanted list for money.
