The Executive Committee of the Odesa City Council has set the cost of parking in the city's parking lots near the coast at UAH 60 per hour.

Accenture has found out how this will affect citizens and tourists.

At the same time, Petro Obukhov, a deputy of the Odesa City Council, noted that the tariff has decreased - last year it was UAH 100. Instead, the city council plans to remove barriers and replace them with city parking inspectors. The parking lots will be operated by Odesmiskparservis, a municipal utility company.

"For the past 10 years, when Trukhanov was mayor, all seaside parking lots were operated by some private entrepreneurs who received them and their management without a tender and made money on it. Yes, they paid a parking fee to the budget, which was about a hryvnia or so per square meter per day, but it was, I don't know, 2% of what they earned. Despite the fact that the land is not leased. It is not owned by these private entrepreneurs. So this year, we decided to finally do the right thing and make sure that the city, the city budget, earns money from city parking lots. This is a complicated process. First, we determined the traffic organization scheme, how many parking spaces there are, how it will be organized, and whether there will be no barriers, as there were in previous years. Then we decided on the tariff. The parking lots will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, seven days a week, from May 1 to September 30. That is, in winter and in late fall, parking will be free. The penalty for non-payment for parking is 20 tariffs, i.e. 2 thousand 100 hryvnias. Or if you pay within the first 10 days, it will be 600 hryvnias. It is more profitable to pay to the budget. According to my conservative estimate, this story will bring about 20 million hryvnias to the city budget, at least."

The deputy is confident that the new tariff will lead to full occupancy of parking lots. The executive committee also learned that the most profitable parking lot was decided to be left under the operation of a private individual entrepreneur, but they plan to make it a public utility.
