(Destroyed Oleshky. SCREENSHOT: Video of the 34th Marine Brigade)
The Ukrainian military has released footage from the temporarily occupied Oleshky in Kherson region, showing large-scale destruction of the town. According to them, the settlement has actually lost its usual appearance after the actions of Russian troops.
The video of the destroyed town was posted by soldiers of the 34th Marine Brigade.
The soldiers of the 34th Separate Marine Brigade showed how Oleshky in the Kherson region look like now. The video shows destroyed buildings, damaged streets and devastated neighborhoods of the town, which has suffered significant damage as a result of Russian aggression.
The military emphasized that Oleshky had actually turned into a ghost town. In their post, they drew a parallel with the movie Interstellar, noting that while in the movie the hero fights for the future of humanity, in reality Ukrainian cities are experiencing a catastrophe without the ability to "rewrite the script."
According to them, the atmosphere of destruction and devastation resembles the darkest science fiction stories, but this is the reality in which Oleshky, occupied by the aggressor, now find themselves.
A humanitarian catastrophe continues in the occupied Oleshky in the Kherson region: the town is mined, civilians are attacked by drones, and the dead often cannot be buried for weeks. In these conditions, local residents are documenting the deaths of their relatives and neighbors on their own to preserve the truth about the crimes of the occupiers.
Local residents who stayed in the city or left have united to collect information about the dead. They record names, circumstances and dates of death, creating unofficial lists of victims. More than a hundred names have already been collected.
The town has been under a de facto blockade since the end of 2025. According to the locals, the roads are mined, spikes are scattered on the highways, and any transportation is regularly attacked by drones. People call the only exit from Oleshky the "road of death."
Since then, almost no food has been brought to the city. Shops are closed and the market is not open. People survive on what they have left at home or what they can exchange with their neighbors.
There are already cases of residents dying of hunger, cold and lack of medical care in the town.
