The Mykolaiv Region Prosecutor's Office has sent to court an indictment against the head of one of the departments of the South Ukrainian City Council. The official is accused of embezzlement of other people's property through abuse of office committed under martial law, as well as forgery.

This was reported by the police and the regional prosecutor's office.

According to the investigation, in December 2024, the official signed a contract for the installation of streetlights in the village of Buzke, knowingly agreeing to the inflated prices in the specification. To conceal the scheme, he entered false data on the cost of the equipment in the official acts of work performed. Due to these actions, the local budget lost almost UAH 250 thousand.

The official is charged with embezzlement of property under martial law and forgery (Part 4 of Article 191 and Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation has now been completed, and the case has been transferred to the Voznesenskiy court for consideration on the merits. If the official's guilt is proven, he faces up to 8 years in prison with a three-year ban on holding certain positions.

Also, the first deputy head of one of the departments of the separate subdivision of the South Ukrainian NPP will be brought before the court. The Voznesensk District Prosecutor's Office has already sent an indictment against the official for abuse of office, which caused serious consequences for the state.

The investigation found that the executive deliberately created conditions for entering into a contract for the supply of bearings on terms that were deliberately unfavorable to the nuclear power plant. The private supplier provided the company with parts whose technical characteristics did not meet the stated requirements and whose cost was significantly overstated. As a result of such actions, Energoatom suffered losses in the amount of UAH 1.1 million.
