The public discussion on renaming Chapaeva and Molochna streets in Odesa, which had been ongoing since August 10, ended with support for the names proposed by the city mayor's office.
The relevant data was published on the Socially Active Citizen platform.
In particular, the mayor's office proposed to rename Chapaeva Street into Tsekhova Street. The name Tsekhova was proposed given that this street is located in an industrial area with almost no houses, but rather production workshops (enterprises). Vasyl Chapayev was a military officer of the Russian Empire and Bolshevik Russia, commander of the 25th Rifle Division of the Red Army, and a participant in the establishment of Soviet power. Chapaev Street in the Khadzhibey district is located between Mykola Borovskoho Street and Kyivska Highway.

The second street proposed to be renamed was Molokov Lane. Vasily Molokov was a Soviet polar pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union. He was born in the Moscow region. Member of the Central Audit Commission of the CPSU (b) (1941-1952). He was elected a member of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR of the 7th convocation (1935-1937), a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 1st convocation (1937-1946). By the resolution of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR of April 20, 1934, Molokov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Molokov Lane in the Kyiv district is located near the 10th station of the Veliky Fountain.
It was suggested that the lane be named after Iryna Popova, who devoted more than half a century, from 1954 to the end of her life, to teaching and research at the Odesa I.I. Mechnikov National University, where she was the head of the Department of Philosophy of the Faculties of Humanities for 17 years and a professor of Sociology since 1992. Her textbooks still serve as a source of knowledge for students, including Sociology: A Propedeutic Course and Sociology: Introduction to the Specialty, which became one of the best textbooks within the program "Transformation of Humanities Education in Ukraine."
