Odessa has declared a Day of Mourning for the city's residents who died in the Russian attack

Igor Koval, acting mayor of Odesa, declared July 16 a day of mourning for the city’s residents killed by a Russian missile.

The municipal press office released the corresponding order. 

This refers to the strike that occurred on the morning of July 15. Therefore, on July 16, the National Flag of Ukraine and the flag of Odesa, both bearing black ribbons, will be flown at half-mast on the buildings of executive bodies, municipal utilities, institutions, and organizations of the Odesa City Council.

The district administrations of the Odesa City Council are to ensure that the Ukrainian national flag and the flag of Odesa, both flown at half-mast with black ribbons, are displayed on public buildings; enterprises, institutions, and organizations in the city, regardless of ownership, are advised to limit the use of music and the holding of entertainment events.

On the morning of July 15, Russian troops launched a missile strike on Odesa. Three people were killed in the attack. Eight others were injured. Four people were hospitalized, and two are in moderate condition. The remaining victims received outpatient medical care. An air raid alert was declared in Odesa in the morning due to the threat of a missile strike. The Ukrainian AirForce warned ofhigh-speed targets moving from the Black Sea toward the city.

In recent days, Russian forces have significantlyintensified their attacks onOdesa and the surrounding region, striking port facilities and civilian ships in the Black Sea flying foreign flags.

On the evening of July 14, the enemy launched another strike on port infrastructure in the Odesa region. During the attack, a Russian UAVstruck a civilian vessel flyingthe flag of the Marshall Islands, damaging its superstructure. A fire broke out on board.

Two people were killed as a result of the attack.

Previously, on June 14, two merchant ships—flying the flags of Tanzania and Liberia—were attacked in the Black Sea.The captain ofone of the ships was killed, and three other crew members were injured.
