SBU cyber specialists detained two FSB agents who were preparing a Russian missile strike on a nitrate storage facility in one of the seaports of Odesa region.

According to the SBU, the defendants' task was to establish the presence of explosive mineral fertilizers at a local transit warehouse.

"In case of a 'positive response' from the informants, the Russian military was going to launch a missile strike on the facility, which was supposed to cause large-scale destruction," the statement said.

According to the case, the enemy agents were a 29-year-old local resident and his 56-year-old accomplice. To fulfill the enemy's task, the FSB informant got a job as a laborer at the port, where he began to track the arrival of sea cargo. The agent, having discovered tanks filled with nitrate, immediately reported it to his supervisor and sent him the relevant coordinates.

SBU officers detained the Russian informant and took measures to secure the port infrastructure of Odesa region. Among other things, the entire volume of nitrate was removed from the site of a potential enemy attack.

In addition, the SBU detained the agent's accomplice. It was established that she drove the suspect in her car to "test tasks" of the enemy, in particular, to set fire to the relay cabinets of Ukrzaliznytsia.

During the searches, the SBU found evidence of the agent's work for the enemy, as well as combat grenades. SBU investigators have now served both suspects a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law and illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives. The criminals are in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, law enforcement officers served notices of suspicion to eight people accused of arson at the request of representatives of the Russian Federation. Among them are three residents of Odesa who tried to set fire to a traffic light relay cabinet at theOdesa-Skhidna railway station.
