The Khadzhybeyskyi District Court of Odesa has found a police officer guilty of failing to file an income declaration.
According to the Center for Public Investigations, the court's verdict shows that the man was dismissed from the position of a junior platoon inspector of the facility protection and public security company on July 30, 2021, and was supposed to submit a declaration to the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption upon dismissal, but did not do so.
At the court hearing, the police officer pleaded guilty to the criminal offense charged, did not dispute the qualification of his actions, and provided testimony similar in content to the circumstances specified in the indictment, namely that he had resigned from the police in 2021, and, having been warned and aware of the obligation to file a declaration, had not yet filed it, citing martial law. He repented of his actions and asked not to be punished severely.
The police officer was eventually sentenced to a fine of 2.6 thousand tax-free minimum incomes, which is UAH 44.2 thousand, and an additional penalty of deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the performance of state and local government functions for a period of one year.
Meanwhile, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption found signs of inaccuracy in the declaration of Vadym Koloidenko, a deputy of the Odesa Regional Council, for 2024 in the amount of UAH 23 million 316,600. Based on the results of the audit, the agency's analysts calculated that the deputy declared 495 thousand dollars and 106 thousand euros in cash. At NACP's request, he explained that these were savings for the period 2013-2024, but after NACP analysts calculated the MP's income and expenses from 2000 to 2024, they concluded that he could have actually saved no more than USD 28,975.
