Odesa Mayor Reports ₴1.4B Budget for Defense and Security in 2024

On March 15, Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov reported on his performance in 2024 in the presence of military officials and the press.

This was the first live report by the mayor since 2022 - the previous reports for 2023 were published on the website in text form.

The text of the report to be presented by the mayor on March 15 has already been published on the city council website and consists of 102 pages. In accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Local Self-Government in Ukraine," the written report of the Odesa Mayor is published on the official website of the Odesa City Council no later than seven calendar days before the event.

In general, the report consists of eight points. Intent will analyze the mayor's report in more detail later.

In particular, the mayor said that the amount of expenditures allocated from the budget of the Odesa city territorial community in 2024 to implement measures to repel the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and ensure national security, eliminate the threat to Ukraine's state independence and territorial integrity; promote the development of territorial defense units and volunteer formations of the Odesa territorial community is UAH 1 billion 415.5 million.

The mayor also said that in 2024, a total of 816 reports of the threat of fire
were recorded (in 2023 - 463 reports). The duration of air raids during this period was more than 789 hours (in 2023 - more than 528 hours). The city had 425 indestructibility points, of which 161 were municipally owned.

The mayor also said that in January-November 2024, Odesa's industrial enterprises sold products worth UAH 54 billion (53.8% of the total volume of industrial products sold in the region), which is 23.8% more than in January-November 2023.
