Detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine have concluded their investigation into allegations that a judge of the Reni District Court in Odesa Oblast received an unlawful benefit.

According to the NABU press service, the case files have now been made available to the defense for review.

According to the investigation, on January 29, the Reni District Court received case materials regarding the administrative prosecution of a driver and the resolution of the issue concerning tobacco products seized from him that lacked excise tax stamps. During a conversation with the complainant, the judge offered to issue a ruling returning the seized property in exchange for an illegal benefit. He hinted at a payment in foreign currency (euros), noting that the complainant would have to offer him an incentive to avoid confiscation. Law enforcement officers detained the judge while he was receiving 800 euros and 300 U.S. dollars.

In March 2026, the High Council of Justice approved the continued detention of Ivan Boshkov, a judge of the Reni District Court in Odesa Oblast, and the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine imposed pretrial detention as a preventive measure.

In May, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the judge’s detention until June 29. His attorneys had requested his release on bail of 1 million hryvnias.

Meanwhile, the High Council of Justice decided to uphold the decision of its SecondDisciplinary Chamber to hold Oleg Ivinsky, a judge of the Podil City and District Court of Odesa Oblast, accountable for disciplinary violations.Oleg Ivinsky was dismissed in April.Prior to that, in March, the High Council of Justice had decidedto suspend consideration of the matter regarding Oleg Ivinsky’s dismissalfrom his position as a judge of the Podilsk City and District Court of Odesa Oblast—in connection with his submission of a letter of resignation—pending the consideration of a joint disciplinary case.
