In Mykolaiv region, law enforcement officers exposed a doctor of the military medical commission who is suspected of extorting a bribe from a wounded soldier. According to the investigation, the doctor asked for 13 thousand hryvnias for issuing a conclusion that could be the basis for dismissal from service.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to the doctor, a member of the permanent freelance military medical commission at the Berezan Central District Hospital. He is suspected of taking a bribe combined with extortion.

According to the prosecutor's office, the doctor demanded 13 thousand hryvnias from the wounded soldier. In exchange for this money, he promised to make a diagnosis without hindrance, which in the future could become the basis for declaring the man unfit for military service and removing him from the military register.

Investigators noted that the relevant decision had to be made by the doctor of the military medical commission exclusively in a legal manner and on the basis of medical evidence. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect while receiving the money. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is currently being decided.

If found guilty, the doctor faces five to ten years in prison, a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years, and confiscation of property.

Voznesensk medical workers are also under investigation. According to the investigation, a group of people, including medical workers of one of Voznesensk's municipal medical institutions, organized an illegal scheme. They, acting in collusion with representatives of the military medical commission, issued fictitious documents on the health status of persons liable for military service.

The conscripts were given diagnoses or statuses that allowed them to avoid service or receive limited fitness. In particular, they were declared unfit or fit only for service in rear units such as logistics, security or medical units.
