In Mykolaiv, a rally to remind people of war prisoners and missing persons was held, bringing together relatives and friends of the defenders. Participants shared stories of their loved ones and called for their return.
This was reported by Suspilne.
The weekly event brought together 220 people, holding flags, posters and photos of their relatives and friends.
Among the participants was marine Denys, who returned from Russian captivity after 993 days. People warmly welcomed his return, and the soldier himself came to the event with his daughter.
The event was attended by relatives of captured and missing soldiers. Olena said that her father, a fighter with the 123rd Territorial Defense Brigade, disappeared after a combat mission in September 2024. In December, the family received confirmation that he was in captivity.
Yevhen, who served in the 47th Mechanized Brigade, is waiting for the return of his brother, who was captured in Donetsk region. Only four months later, the Coordination Center confirmed his status, and on the sixth month, his brother was allowed to make a phone call for the first time.
Another participant of the action, Mykola, spoke about his son, a soldier of the 41st Brigade, who has the status of "missing". According to the commander, his fate remains unknown after the enemy shelling.
Relatives of prisoners of war and missing persons are calling on the public and international organizations to help in their return.
Also, relatives of war prisoners, missing persons and Odessans gathered on Deribasovskaya Street to hold a traditional reminder rally. Participants held posters with photos of prisoners and inscriptions: "Bring back our heroes", "Freedom to the defenders", "Ukraine needs you", "Shout about the prisoners and support them". Soldiers on short-term leave also joined the action.
Earlier, on March 1, a car rally and a peaceful rally in support of Ukrainian prisoners of war and missing persons were held in the Voznesenskaya community. A convoy of cars with blue and yellow flags and posters with portraits of the defenders drove through the city, drawing attention to their fate.
