On September 10, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv extended the term of detention for Mykolaiv criminal mastermind Igor Naumenko, known as "Naum," for another two months. The hearing was held in the format of a video conference.

This was reported by Mykolaiv activist Denys Zhelo in his Telegram.

Ihor Naumenko, known as a "poshozhenets" or a person with increased criminal influence, expanded his activities in the south of Ukraine, in particular in Mykolaiv, Odesa and Kherson regions, as well as in prisons in these regions.

According to the investigation, he tried to seize an agricultural enterprise in Odesa region. The businessman was demanded $550,000 or the transfer of a property complex and 60 trucks, threatening him with "problems" in case of refusal. In addition, Naumenko and the persons under his control spread criminal influence in pre-trial detention centers and colonies. He coordinated the activities of his accomplices, collected money for the "common fund", developed rules for convicts and controlled the activities of criminal groups.

In early May 2023, the 58-year-old, known in the criminal world as "Naum," was released from Arbuzynska correctional facility No. 83. His release came after he had served his full sentence in an extortion case. In 2017, Naumenko and two of his accomplices, Ihor Uvarov and Yevhen Hruskyi, were detained in the Kartoplyana Khata restaurant after receiving 20 thousand hryvnias from the former manager of Mykolaivoblenergo, Andrii Savov.

As a reminder, the corrupt mayor of Bashtanka was removed from office. The official is suspected of embezzling over a million hryvnias. According to the investigation, he misappropriated UAH 1.1 million when purchasing military ammunition - uniforms and shoes - for a military unit at the end of 2022. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Mykolaiv Oblast Police.

On September 4, the previously detained mayor of Bashtanka, Berehovoi, was chosen as a preventive measure - detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 1.1 million.Berehovoi misappropriated about a third of the funds allocated for winter clothing for the military. This happened through a scheme with overpriced procurement. In particular, the prosecutor's office announced 19 more suspicions against Mykolaiv officials.

A few days later, the mayor's wife paid the required bail for him and the mayor was released from the jail. The suspicion was announced on August 19. The process of choosing a measure of restraint was accompanied by a series of events. On August 25, the court session did not take place because the judges recused themselves. On August 28, the mayor reported a deterioration in his health, which required an ambulance to be called to the court. As a result, the hearing was postponed again.
