A court in Mykolaiv convicted a former police officer. He was convicted of official negligence and failure to file a declaration.

This is evidenced by the verdict of the Ingulsky District Court of Mykolaiv.

In Mykolaiv, the court considered a case against a former police officer of Police Station No. 1 of the Mykolaiv Department of the National Police, who was accused of negligence and intentional failure to file a declaration.

According to the investigation, during his service as a police officer for logistics, accounting and storage of material evidence and weapons at the Mykolaiv Police Department No. 1, he negligently performed his duties between November 2023 and May 2024.

The man did not ensure proper storage of the property entrusted to him, did not keep timely records of receipt, movement and disposal of things, did not control the write-off and assignment of material assets to employees, and did not keep a file cabinet.

An unscheduled inventory revealed a shortage of property totaling UAH 279,309, including computers, tablets, video cameras, furniture, and medical kits.

It turned out that, in addition to negligence, the defendant intentionally failed to file a declaration after completing his service, violating the Law of Ukraine "On Prevention of Corruption."

However, the prosecutor and the defendant entered into a plea agreement. The court took into account the defendant's sincere repentance and full recognition of civil claims.

The former police officer was released from serving the main sentence of restraint of liberty, replacing it with a year of probation. An additional sentence was imposed - deprivation of the right to work in law enforcement for two years. Property damage in the amount of UAH 279,309 was recovered in favor of the Mykolaiv Oblast Police, and UAH 17,828 in favor of the state.

Also in Pervomaisk, the court left local businessman and city council member Vasyl Kapatsyna under nightly house arrest. He is suspected of embezzling budget funds during the repair of the roof over the hospital's operating room.
