The occupation "military commissariats" of Crimea forced locals to serve in the Russian army under threats of persecution. The SBU served them suspicion notices in absentia for treason and war crimes.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU Main Directorate in the AR of Crimea.
The Security Service of Ukraine has documented the criminal activities of the occupation "military commissars" who organized the forced mobilization of residents of the temporarily occupied Crimea to the Russian armed forces.
According to the investigation, the so-called "military commissar of Feodosia and Kirovskyi district" and "military commissar of Simferopol" were served suspicion notices in absentia. They organized dozens of illegal recruitment campaigns, during which they promoted service in the occupation forces and exerted psychological pressure on those who refused to serve.
In case of disobedience, the "military commissariats" threatened Crimeans with persecution and pressure from punitive authorities.
Based on the evidence collected, the SBU notified the defendants in absentia of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 1 of Article 111 - high treason; Part 1 of Article 438 - violation of the laws and customs of war.
The SBU emphasized that the forced mobilization of the population of the temporarily occupied territory is a gross violation of international humanitarian law, in particular Article 51 and Article 147 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and is qualified as a war crime.
Since the defendants are on the temporarily occupied territory, the SBU continues to take comprehensive measures to bring them to justice.
In early February, the juvenile prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office served suspicion notices of militarization of children to eight Ukrainian citizens who ensured the functioning of the Yunarmiya in the temporarily occupied territories, in particular in Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Under the guise of "patriotic education," children were taught how to handle weapons, tactical actions, and were given military marches and oaths of allegiance to Russia.
