Members of the Mykolaiv City Council have appealed to the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers, requesting that the community be granted an additional subsidy from the state budget. The city needs 819.1 million hryvnias.

The decision was adopted at a meeting of the standing committee on economic and investment policy of the city of Mykolaiv.

The funds are needed to ensure the operation of housing and utilities services, maintain social facilities and critical infrastructure, and fulfill state social guarantees.

In the text of the appeal, officials emphasized that the war has dealt a devastating blow to Mykolaiv’s economic potential, and legislative changes have significantly reduced revenues to the local treasury. According to preliminary estimates, the elimination of the tax on military personnel’s income will result in the city budget falling short by approximately 3 billion hryvnias in 2026.

In August, Mykolaiv had already asked the government to provide the city with additional financial assistance. At that time, the deputies requested that at least 1.18 billion hryvnias be allocated to cover the budget deficit in 2026.

The speakers explained that this appeal is an updated version of a similar document that city council members adopted when approving the budget at the beginning of the year. It was redrafted due to changes in budget figures and personnel changes in the government.
