Kherson region pays UAH 462 million for destroyed homes

The Compensation Commission continues to consider applications from residents of Kherson Oblast for compensation for housing destroyed as a result of Russian aggression. As of May, almost 2000 applications have been received from citizens.

This was reported by the head of the Kherson City Military Administration Yaroslav Shanko.

According to him, the commission has already made more than 1400 decisions to provide compensation totaling 462 million hryvnias. More than 400 families have received housing certificates that allow them to purchase new housing to replace the destroyed ones.

Due to the security situation and constant Russian shelling, inspections of damaged or destroyed houses are often carried out remotely using modern technical means.

At the same time, Yaroslav Shanko warned residents of the region against fraudulent schemes. According to him, recently there have been more cases when people are offered paid remote inspections or technical reports without actually inspecting the object.

"Only members of the commission have the right to conduct remote inspections of destroyed property and only on a free of charge basis," said the head of KMIA.

Work is also underway to provide citizens with financial compensation for the reconstruction of damaged housing.

Earlier, Anton Samoilenko, Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, said that as of April 2026, the total amount of compensation paid was UAH 5.6 billion.

So far, the commissions have reviewed about 12 thousand applications out of 16 thousand submitted. Already 8 thousand applicants have received payments.

In total, as of April 2026, about 42 thousand damaged or destroyed houses were recorded in Kherson region, of which about 7 thousand were completely destroyed.

As a reminder, a meeting of the commission that considers applications for compensation for housing destroyed as a result of hostilities was held in the Kherson city territorial community.
