First Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council Yuriy Sobolevsky warned of a difficult heating season in the region, especially for residents of areas near Dnipro.

As the official explained, due to constant shelling, it is impossible to restore electricity and gas supply in some localities. A mandatory evacuation regime has been introduced for these areas, including for families with children.

"This season will be difficult because, unfortunately, there are settlements where it is impossible to restore power and gas supply, because the ones near the Dnipro River are sometimes shelled with direct fire, and it is impossible to carry out these works there. And these settlements have been identified, and there is a mandatory evacuation regime in place," he said, adding that not all residents agree to leave, remaining in dangerous conditions.

According to Sobolevsky, the situation is even more complicated on the left bank of the Kherson region. In the areas located within 25-30 kilometers of Dnipro, there has been virtually no preparation for the heating season. The power grids are in critical condition, with constant emergency outages covered by announcements of "repair work." Due to the lack of specialists and the longstanding neglect of the networks, it is expected that the winter in these areas will be particularly difficult.

It should be added that in Kherson , heating network workers are working in extremely difficult conditions and are forced to do double the amount of work due to a 40 percent understaffing.

At a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Roman Mrochko, asked President Zelensky to help create a"protective dome" system that could protect Kherson residents and critical infrastructure from attacks by Russian drones.
