The Bike City consulting agency, commissioned by the Odesa City Council, has begun collecting comments, suggestions, and remarks on the first version of the Concept for the Development of the City's Bicycle Infrastructure.

The concept, in particular, envisages the appointment of a commissioner for the development of bicycle infrastructure in the Odesa City Council.

The Commissioner is proposed to be elected from the executive staff of executive bodies and will form an "Infrastructure Development Office". He will also have to coordinate the implementation of the concept. In general, the concept aims to increase the use of cycling and light personal electric transport, as well as to create safe and comfortable conditions for cycling and parking. In particular, it envisages the development of bicycle routes in the city, the identification of bicycle parking locations, and the types of bicycle parking.

The stage of collecting comments, suggestions, and remarks on the first draft will last until December 16, 2025.

In April, the then Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov ordered the creation of a working group to prepare the terms of reference for the development of the Concept for the Development of Bicycle Infrastructure in Odesa. The working group had to complete its task by July 1. Its creation was due to a decision of the city council, which was adopted in 2019 when the city program "Road Safety in Odesa" for 2020-2025 was created.

The group included 13 people, six of whom were required to work there:

The other members of the group, by agreement, could be deputies from three factions in the city council: European Solidarity, Trust the Deeds, and Servant of the People, and it is assumed that they will be: Petro Obukhov, Oleh Etnarovych and Andriy Sharashidze, respectively. Andrii Sharashidze and Petro Obukhov are members of the city council's permanent deputy commission on transport and road facilities.
