Representatives of German companies visited Mykolaiv to establish cooperation and support innovative projects, startups, and incubators.
This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv City Council.
The visit was organized by the German organization Mykolaiv Water Hub and involved ten companies and business associations from Germany, as well as representatives of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district, with which the city plans to sign a cooperation agreement.
Over the course of two days, the delegation met with representatives of the city authorities, Mykolaivvodokanal and Mykolaivoblteploenergo utilities, as well as students and management of local universities.
Anna Montavon, Founder and CEO of Mykolaiv Water Hub, emphasized that anti-corruption policy and transparency of the authorities were the main factors in choosing Mykolaiv for the partnership.
Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych welcomed the delegation and introduced the city, describing the difficulties the city faced due to Russia's armed aggression, which caused great damage. He emphasized the need for post-war reconstruction based on the principle of "Build Back Better" - to rebuild better than before. The recovery will be based on the Master Plan developed with the participation of international experts and the City Development Strategy.
The city authorities are also actively cooperating with international partners to increase the transparency, integrity and accountability of local authorities. Oleksandr Senkevych noted that to achieve this goal, the city council is implementing the best anti-corruption practices.
The guests also visited Mykolaiv National Agrarian University, Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, and Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, where young scientists presented their research. The delegation included a German rehabilitation specialist who conducted training for local doctors so they could install prostheses and obtain the necessary certificates.
A prosthetics center is planned to be opened in Mykolaiv, where doctors trained by German specialists will work.
The Reconstruction Office has also recently outlined prospects for cooperation in the coming years. Danish companies already operating in Ukraine are looking for cooperation with enterprises that will facilitate the investment process for new players from Denmark planning to enter the Ukrainian market.
In June, innovative projects related to new economic models were presented in the city. Concepts for the development of a maritime industrial park, the Aqua Port coastal public space, the Ukrainian Future innovation technology park, and more were presented.
In July, Mykolaiv's international partners, who worked on the city's Master Plan, decided on pilot projects. They will help develop several key components that will influence the development of the region. Among other things, it is planned to create an innovation district, an industrial park, reconstruct social housing, and restore cultural heritage.
