In the Mykolaiv region, a driver dumped grain on the road while trying to avoid a fine

In the Mykolaiv region, a truck driver began dumping some of his grain directly onto the road in an attempt to avoid liability for exceeding weight limits.

This was reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety.

Inspectors from Ukrtransbezpeka, together with National Police officers, discovered four MAN trucks whose drivers were attempting to bypass the WIM-52 in-motion automatic weighing system.

To determine the weight parameters and verify their documents, the drivers were asked to drive to the nearest weight and dimension inspection station. There, all four trucks were found to exceed the total weight limit by between 10% and 40%.

In addition, two of the drivers did not have the documents required for transportation at the time of the inspection.

One of the drivers, attempting to avoid liability for the weight violation, began unloading some of the grain directly onto the road. Police officers issued an administrative citation to him for this incident.

All four trucks were impounded until the violations were rectified. They were allowed to continue their journey only after unloading the excess cargo and being reweighed.

The total amount of the fines for the detected violations is 238,000 hryvnias.

Ukrtransbezpeka reminded the public that compliance with size and weight limits is necessary to protect roads from premature deterioration, and that overloading also increases the risk of traffic accidents.
