Farmers in the Odesa region have harvested a record grain crop

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Farmers in the Odesa region have completed the harvest of early grain and legume crops, achieving a record-breaking yield for the region of over 5 million metric tons of grain. This volume was harvested from an area of approximately 1.2 million hectares.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The average yield was 42 centners per hectare.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Currently, farms in the region have already begun harvesting late-season crops and planting winter crops for next year’s harvest.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Earlier, the Cabinet </span></span></span></span></span></span>of Ministers of Ukraine eased foreign exchange control rules for exporters of key agricultural commodities. This decision compensates for logistical challenges caused by systematic shelling of port infrastructure and civilian vessels in the Black Sea region.

Specifically, the rules regarding payment deadlines for export contracts for wheat, corn, soybeans, sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, and sunflower meal have been amended. The Ministry of Economy will be able to extend the established deadlines by up to 180 days upon an exporter’s request. This will give producers and exporters more time to fulfilltheir contracts.

In August,globalfoodpricesrose to their highest level since the end of 2022. This was driven by an escalation of hostilities in the Black Sea, particularly near the ports of the Odesa region, through which Ukrainian grain is exported.
