The announcement of an air raid alert separately in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district appeared on September 26 on the official Telegram channel of the Odesa City Council.
The next minute, they announced the cancellation of the alarm in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district.
Immediately afterwards, some channels reported that this was a test of the distinction between the issuance of an alarm by district so that if it was realized that the attack threatened one district of the region, it would not be an alarm for the entire region, but would warn only residents locally. However, there was probably a malfunction in the alert.
Intent asked the Odesa City Council and the Odesa Regional Military Administration for comment. The press service of the city council neither confirmed nor denied the allegations of testing the localization of the alarm. The OMA has not yet commented on the incident either.
Meanwhile, a petition to separate air raid alarms in Odesa and Odesa region has been posted on the official platform of the Odesa City Council, Socially Active Citizen. The author of the petition, Iryna Grekova, emphasized that due to the fact that Odesa region is one of the largest in Ukraine, it is irrational to send air raid alarms to Odesa and the entire region at the same time.
"Residents of the city are forced to interrupt work and study, even if the danger is only in remote areas of the region. At the same time, children and workers in the city are staying in shelters without any real need," she said.
Therefore, the author of the petition demands that local governments apply to the relevant government agencies and implement separate air raid warnings.
Zoning of air raid warnings is currently practiced in Ukraine in Kharkiv, Dnipro and Kyiv regions.
