In Mykolaiv, an employee of a psychiatric hospital was suspended from his position on suspicion of bribery. He gave fictitious certificates to evade mobilization.

This is stated in the decision of the Vitovsky District Court of Mykolaiv region.

The court suspended the head of the psychiatric department No. 7 of the Mykolaiv Regional Mental Health Center for two months on suspicion of bribery. The case is a criminal proceeding under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code - obtaining an undue advantage by an official.

The investigation believes that the head of the medical institution, along with other employees of the medical institution, issued fictitious diagnoses of mental disorders for money. These certificates were used by persons liable for military service to avoid mobilization.

According to the investigation, up to $3,000 was paid for one such document. During one of the episodes, the transfer of $1,000 was recorded, after which one of the defendants in the case was detained. The same day, the suspected head was detained.

The court agreed with the arguments of the investigator and the prosecutor that, while remaining in office, the suspect could influence the employees of the medical facility, destroy or distort documents relevant to the investigation, and continue illegal activities.

The suspect's defense lawyer disagreed with the investigation's arguments, emphasizing that the risks had not been proven, and that the suspension would harm the work of the medical institution. The suspect himself also denied the motion.

Nevertheless, the court concluded that the validity of the suspicion was confirmed by a combination of evidence - search reports, interrogations of witnesses, materials of covert investigative actions and SBU data. All of this was the basis for the suspension of the officer to ensure the effectiveness of the further investigation.

A group of criminals who demanded bribes to help evaders avoid military service by using forged medical certificates were detained in early July. According to the investigation, the head of one of the hospital departments organized the inpatient treatment of conscripts and issued fictitious diagnoses that allowed them to obtain documents on their unfitness for service in the Armed Forces.
