In Mykolaiv region, they helped evaders avoid military service by using fake medical certificates. The offenders were detained while receiving a bribe.

This was reported by the SBU press service in Mykolaiv region.

The SBU and the National Police exposed a criminal group in Mykolaiv region that helped evaders avoid military service. The SBU together with the National Police eliminated a draft evasion scheme organized by the head of a department of a state medical institution and his intermediary.

According to the investigation, the head of a hospital department ensured that conscripts were hospitalized in his department and issued fictitious diagnoses that allowed them to obtain documents on unfitness for service in the Armed Forces and deregistration. The intermediary found "clients" through personal connections among conscripts and their relatives.

Law enforcement recorded facts of receiving bribes in the amount of USD 3 thousand. Both offenders were detained while receiving part of the bribe. They were served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Investigators continue to work on identifying all participants in the scheme and bringing them to justice.

In early June, a junior sergeant was exposed in Mykolaiv for extorting at least UAH 200,000 for transferring a serviceman to another unit without participating in hostilities. He was detained red-handed while receiving the second part of the bribe.

In May, law enforcement officers detained three residents of the Nechayan community who had extorted about USD 70,000 from their friend over a year and a half, allegedly for "help" in avoiding mobilization. The scheme involved a 70-year-old man, his 42-year-old son, and a 64-year-old friend. From October 2023, one of them posed as an employee of the TCC, promised to resolve the issue with the military commissariat and even blackmailed the man with being sent to the front if he stopped transferring money.
