Kherson has initiated a major overhaul of the regional hospital's mental health department. The goal is to optimize the work of medical staff, reduce queues for consultations, and strengthen psychological support for victims of war and stressful situations.
This is evidenced by the data of the DREAM ecosystem.
The project involves a complete renovation of the premises to provide psychotherapeutic and psychiatric care to residents of Kherson Oblast, including people with post-traumatic and psychosomatic disorders, anxiety, depression and other psychological problems.
The unit is designed for 30 beds and creates an intermediate link between psychiatric institutions and outpatient services. It will help patients with self-perception, relationship problems, sleep disorders, trauma due to the loss of loved ones, stress in professional life, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, and other mental conditions.
The working project envisages a comprehensive overhaul without changing the external configuration of the building or the capacity of the department. It is planned to replace windows and doors, repair walls and slopes with painting, lay ceramic tiles, upgrade heating pipelines and radiators, install electrical networks, install fire alarms, air conditioners, and recuperators. Two medical elevators, wide doorways, adapted bathrooms, and special accessibility elements for wheelchairs are provided for the convenience of people with limited mobility.
The total budget of the project is UAH 11.1 million, of which UAH 8.9 million is planned for capital expenditures and UAH 2.2 million for operational needs. The design and estimate documentation has already been approved and contractors have been selected to carry out the work. Part of the funding was provided by public funds, which covered about 0.84% of the total need. The project was initiated by the Department of Health of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
The goal of the project is to create a modern, comfortable, and safe space for psychotherapeutic and psychiatric care, which will help support the mental health of the population of Kherson region and improve the efficiency of medical services in the region.
The reconstruction of the basement of the therapeutic building of the Tropinsky City Clinical Hospital is also planned. The hospital building, which has been operating since 1983, has five floors and provides both primary and secondary health care, and now needs to be updated and provided with additional protection for staff and patients. More than UAH 165 million is needed to implement the project.
