In 2024, Ukrainian companies filed more than 18 thousand applications for trademark registration. Over the past 10 years, 267,692 trademark applications have been filed.
This is evidenced by the data of the Opendatabot monitoring service.
Since 2015, 267.6 thousand applications for trademark registration have been filed in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation (UKIPI). The most patented areas are business activities, advertising, medical products, and educational projects. Roshen is the leader in the number of applications.
From 2015 to 2019, the number of applications grew annually, peaking in 2019 at 33,745. In 2020, the number of applications decreased by 17% to 27,883 due to the pandemic.
The number of applications fell sharply for the second time at the beginning of the full-scale war, reaching 16,162, the lowest figure in recent years. But in 2023, the number of applications increased to 25,000, and in the first nine months of 2024, 18,008 applications were filed.
In 2024, the largest share of applications (37.4%) was for trademarks related to advertising and business activities. Also popular are brands related to education and entertainment services (13.9%), and pharmaceutical, medical, veterinary drugs and herbicides (11.1%).
"Roshen filed the largest number of trademark applications ever - 1396. Obolon (1,043) and Rozetka.ua (886) are also actively registering their brands.

In 2024, the largest number of applications was submitted by GGBET (76). Other leaders include Obolon (72) and Farmis LTD (71).

Also in Ukraine, company founders are increasingly choosing to manage their new businesses personally. In 2017, more than 71% of owners were actively involved in management, but by 2021, this share had dropped to 64%. However, in the first year after the start of the full-scale invasion, the number of owners willing to be directly involved increased to almost 73%.
The National Cashback program was joined by 70 enterprises in the South. In total, more than 1,000 companies and 167 individual entrepreneurs participated in the program across the country. Three companies on the list had Russian owners at the time of the full-scale invasion, and one of them is still owned by a citizen of the terrorist country. Most of the program participants are registered in Kyiv, Dnipro and Lviv regions.
In addition, almost 19 thousand new entrepreneurs have registered in the south of the country in the first eight months of 2024. For example, 12839 sole proprietors were registered in Odesa region, 5096 in Mykolaiv region, and 1746 in Kherson region. After a sharp decline at the beginning of the invasion, the number of new registrations has stabilized and has been stable for the second year.
