Head of a military institution in Odesa region is served a notice of suspicion of negligence

Police investigators have notified an official of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi housing and maintenance unit of suspicion of official negligence.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

According to investigators, the 53-year-old suspect, holding one of the leading positions in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi apartment and maintenance unit, entered into contracts with two private entrepreneurs for the supply of fuel wood for military units in the district. At the same time, he did not conduct the necessary market consultations and price analysis, but independently determined the cost of the goods, which turned out to be significantly higher than the market average.

As a result, from October 2023 to February 2024, the wood was purchased at an inflated price, which caused unnecessary budget expenditures of more than UAH 2 million.

If found guilty, the man faces imprisonment for up to five years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and a fine of up to UAH 12,750 or without it.

Earlier, investigators sent a case to court charging a technical supervision engineer with negligence in the repair of a shelter in a kindergarten. A certified entrepreneur authorized to carry out technical supervision, in accordance with an agreement concluded with the city council in 2023, undertook to control the quality of work performed by the contractor during the overhaul of the protective structure in the preschool. However, the technical supervision engineer failed to properly check the scope and quality of construction and installation work, as well as the materials used. Nevertheless, he approved and certified the acts of acceptance of the work performed, which contained inaccurate information: the work was not completed in full and did not correspond to either the design estimates or the primary reporting, in particular, the actual list and quantity of materials by type of work.
