He led the occupation of Kherson region: Russian lieutenant general was served with suspicion

Lieutenant General of the Russian Armed Forces, 55-year-old Arkady Marzoyev, is suspected by law enforcement of leading the occupation of the Kherson region, which led to the death and injury of many people, destruction and damage to hundreds of civilian objects.

This was reported by the Center for Investigative Journalism in response to the published text of the suspicion.

According to the Center for Investigative Journalism, SBU investigators found that Marzoyev, a resident of the Moscow region of Russia, had been conducting aggressive military operations since February 24, 2022, leading units of the 22nd Army Corps of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the Kherson region, including the city of Kherson, until November 11, 2022.

Marzoyev's area of operational responsibility included the 126th Horlivka Red Banner Coastal Defense Brigade of the Order of Suvorov, the 127th Separate Reconnaissance Brigade, the Cossack Brigade "Don", the 810th Separate Marine Brigade, the 61st Separate Marine Brigade, the 80th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, the 8th Artillery Regiment, the 1096th Separate Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, the 4th Separate Regiment of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense and other units of the Russian Armed Forces.

On February 24, 2022, units subordinate to Marzoyev illegally crossed the administrative border of Kherson region from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in the area of Chongar, Kalanchak and Chaplynka. Some of the units marched in the direction of Kherson through Kayirka, Skadovsk district, the villages of Novyi Hai, Chorna Dolyna, Kamianka, Tsukury, Plodove, Nova Kakhovka and Kakhovka.

The Russian army units entered from Dzhankoy via the route: Krasnoperekopsk, Armiansk, Stavky, Babenkivka Persha, Kalanchak, Mykolaivka, Zelene, Skadovsk, Stepne, Mykhailivka, Velykyi Klyn, Hola Prystan, Kardashynka, Oleshky, Molodizhne, Vysuntsi, Muzykivka, Barvinok and focused on defense in the area of Kyselivka, Barvinok, Krutyi Yar.

On February 25, 2022, units of the RF Armed Forces subordinate to Marzoyev, with the support of the tactical airborne assault division of the 7th Airborne Assault Division, concentrated near the villages of Serhiivka, Pishchane, Rayske, Kakhovka district and then reached the border of the cities of Kherson, Nova Kakhovka. Kherson, Nova Kakhovka, Kakhovka to maintain the pace of the offensive and unimpeded entry into battle of the second echelons of the 58th and 49th Combined Arms Armies of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation.

On the night of March 1, 2022, some enemy units entered Kherson from the west and occupied the city. Two detachments of the 10th Separate Special Forces Brigade were entrenched in the regional center. After regrouping, they fought in the direction of Kherson - Mykolaiv.

On March 1 and 2, 2022, enemy units marched along the route of Nova Kakhovka, Kozatske, Tyahynka, Naddnipryanske, Barativka, Novovasylivka, Novopetrivka, Shyroke, Partyzanske, Kalynivka, Mariivka, Ingulka, Stepanivka, Troitske, Mykhailivka, Rakove, Voznesensk.

Later, the occupiers occupied defensive lines along the line of settlements: Veremiivka, Myroliubivka, Beryslav district, Kherson region, Lyubymivka, Mykolaiv region, as well as: Petrivka, Zolota Balka, Shevchenkivka in Beryslav district. Later, the units moved to Velyka Oleksandrivka and concentrated on the northern outskirts of the village.

At the same time, soldiers of the 255th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment marched along the route: Kozatske, Tyahynka, Tokarivka, Dariivka and conducted defensive actions near the villages of Naddnipryanske, Sonyachne and Oleksandrivka in Kherson district of Kherson region.

Other units conducted offensive operations from March 2, 2022, reaching the line of Skadovsk, Hola Prystan, Kherson, Snihurivka, Nova Kakhovka, establishing full control over Kherson.

The criminal actions of the occupiers resulted in the death and injury of many people, destruction and damage to civilian objects, illegal checkpoints, abductions and torture.

Arkadiy Marzoyev was notified in absentia of suspicion of conducting aggressive military actions for the crime.
