The Government of Ukraine has allocated UAH 96 million for the construction of anti-drone grid corridors on priority roads in Kherson region.
According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, the funds will be used to protect roads used daily by civilians, the military, humanitarian missions and emergency response services.
These are the routes that are critical for the region's defense capability, evacuation of the population and provision of humanitarian aid to communities in the face of constant Russian attacks.
Anti-drone nets are installed along the roads to protect vehicles from Russian drone strikes. Such corridors allow for safer transportation of humanitarian supplies, evacuation of people and operation of emergency services.
As of now, 190 kilometers of anti-drone nets have already been set up on the roads of Kherson region. The work is ongoing.
A separate decision to allocate additional funding for road repairs in the region is currently being considered.
Recently, in the Korabelny district of Kherson, the Russian military attacked the vehicles of the UN humanitarian mission with a drone.
In turn, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the UN vehicle attacked by the Russian drone contained nine representatives of the mission.
According to him, the car included the head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and eight other employees of the organization. The mission representatives were evacuated and were not injured.
Earlier, American journalist Zarina Zabriskie, who documents Russian war crimes, announced her return to Kherson amid new drone attacks and the so-called "truce." According to her, the city continues to live under the threat of drones that lie in wait for people near the roads and spread Russian propaganda.
