The Government of Ukraine has allocated UAH 96 million for the construction of anti-drone fortifications on the roads of Kherson region, which are attacked daily by the Russian army. Protection is planned to be strengthened on 27 more sections of evacuation and logistics routes in the region.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

The government has allocated UAH 96 million from the state budget reserve fund for the construction of anti-drone fortifications in Kherson and on the region's evacuation routes. The decision was made during an offsite meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers after inspecting the region's key logistics roads, which are under daily Russian shelling.

According to Svyrydenko, the funding will allow for the installation of protection on 27 more road sections with a total length of more than 200 kilometers. These are the routes used by local residents, the military, medics and emergency services.

So far, anti-drone fortifications have been installed on more than 190 kilometers of roads in Kherson region. The work is being carried out by the Kherson Regional Military Administration in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense.

In addition, the government agreed on a new mechanism for financing the construction of local roads. The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development and the Ministry of Economy were instructed to prepare a decision to allocate an additional UAH 3.5 billion in subsidies for road repairs.

Part of the funds will be used to complete work on the Kherson-Mykolaiv evacuation route, which is important for ambulances, military and evacuation vehicles.

Among other issues, the Defense Council discussed strengthening security and countering drone attacks in Russia back in August last year. It was planned to block the main artillery roads, access roads, and Kherson itself with anti-drone nets. At that time, the Department of Civil Defense and Defense Work of the Kherson Regional State Administration bought more than five million hryvnias worth of mesh.
