Garbage collection costs are rising in Mykolaiv: new rates have been approved

The Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council has adopted a resolution establishing new rates for household waste management services for the municipal enterprises “Mykolaivkomtrans” and “Obriy-DKP.” The new rates will take effect on July 1, 2026.

The decision was adopted at an Executive Committee meeting on June 24. City officials cite requests from both municipal enterprises and the need to ensure proper sanitation in the city as the reasons for revising the rates. The rates have also been brought into compliance with current waste management legislation.

For the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivkomtrans,” the tariff for the disposal of household waste was set at 308.42 hryvnia per metric ton or 47.50 hryvnia per cubic meter. In addition, new rates were approved for the company’s waste collection and transportation services: 382.69 hryvnia per cubic meter of mixed household waste and 612.32 hryvnia per cubic meter of bulky and construction waste.

For the municipal enterprise “Obriy-DKP,” the rate for the removal of mixed household waste will be 378.28 hryvnia per cubic meter. The removal of bulky waste will cost 1,153.83 hryvnia per cubic meter, and construction and renovation waste will cost 1,170.64 hryvnia per cubic meter.

According to the draft decision, the tariff structure includes costs for fuel and lubricants, employee wages, the unified social contribution, administrative expenses, marketing costs, and waste disposal costs. The largest components of the waste disposal tariff for “Mykolaivkomtrans” are land and environmental taxes, labor costs, and fuel and lubricants.

The document also notes that “Mykolaivkomtrans” plans to provide services annually for the collection and transportation of over 746 thousand cubic meters of mixed household waste, over 48,000 cubic meters of bulky waste, and over 24,000 cubic meters of construction and demolition waste.

In addition to setting new rates, the executive committee declared previous decisions regarding the cost of household waste management services, adopted in 2024 and 2025, to be no longer in effect. Municipal utilities must notify consumers of the rate changes.

As a reminder, as of May 1, 2026, household waste collection rates were increased for residents of the Korabelny District. 

Previously, in Mykolaiv, city council members did not support a decision to approve the operating procedures for the household waste sorting facility.
