A former Ukrposhta branch manager accused of embezzlement will be tried in Mykolaiv. According to the investigation, the official forged cash reports to hide the lack of funds.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in Mykolaiv region.

A pre-trial investigation has been completed in Mykolaiv against the former head of one of the city's Ukrposhta branches, who is accused of embezzling more than 80,000 hryvnias and forging financial documents.

According to the investigation, the 46-year-old local resident, while holding the position of head of the post office of the joint-stock company, systematically misappropriated funds and material assets entrusted to her from January to August 2025. The total amount of damage caused is UAH 81 thousand.

To conceal the shortage and avoid liability, the official entered false information into cash reports and the automated accounting system. In the documents, she deliberately overstated the cash balance at the end of the working day, creating the appearance of correctness of financial transactions. Thus, the woman concealed the facts of misappropriation of funds.

In September, law enforcement officers under the procedural guidance of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office served her a notice of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

Upon completion of the investigation, the indictment was sent to the court for consideration on the merits. For the crimes committed, the former official faces up to eight years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.

At the same time, the defendant has already reimbursed most of the damages to the company. The final decision in the case will be made by the court.

Earlier, the court found Natalia Prykhodko, former director of the Odesa directorate of Ukrposhta, guilty of extortion and sentenced her to five years in prison with confiscation of property. The investigation established that back in March 2017, Prykhodko and her subordinate demanded USD 9 thousand from an entrepreneur for assistance in concluding a lease agreement for the premises of the institution.
