Former law enforcement officer from Odesa region detained on suspicion of preparing terrorist attacks in four regions

The SBU CI detained a 55-year-old former law enforcement officer from Odesa region on suspicion of organizing explosive caches that were planned to be used for terrorist attacks.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

According to the investigation, the detainee came to the attention of the occupiers when he posted anti-Ukrainian comments on social media, and after being recruited, he received the coordinates of the caches from the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate, from which he received blanks for three improved explosive devices based on plastic and electric detonators, as well as two anti-personnel mines.

The defendant equipped the munitions obtained from the caches with remote detonation devices and placed them in new caches identified by his Russian handler. Most of these locations were on the outskirts of the aforementioned cities, away from residential areas.

Subsequently, other members of the Russian agents were to arrive at the caches, take the explosives from them and install them under the bodies of military vehicles. The SBU CI exposed the enemy's plan in advance and documented the criminal actions of the former law enforcement officer and his Russian handler in stages.

At the same time, the SBU seized and neutralized all improved explosive devices and other means of destruction hidden in the caches. At the final stage of the special operation, SBU officers detained the agent.
